Here It Is. I Bought A2000 Mercury Sable For My Daughter, Check Engine Light Was On When Bought Yesterday. I Ran The Codes And Got A Cyl 6 Misfire, Replaced Coil Reset Codes With Scan Tool. Check Engine Light Came Back On And Retest Showed Same Code. Car Runs Fine, But Once Ina While Idles Rough When In Gear At A Stop Runs Rough For A Few Minutes After Taking Off Then Clears Right Up. Seems Fishy. It Is Intermittent Prob. Could A Spark Plug Do This? Pulled Plug Was Clean And Looked Good. I Read That Maybe A Fuel Injector Could Be Bad? Any Help Is Appreciatted, Muy Daughtwer Is Leaving For California On Fri. With This Car, Would Like To Make It Right Quickly.

Was the porcelin insulator carbon tracked where the coil sits over it??? (Black line on porcelin) How many miles on the car??? What was the gap on the plug???

hey, thanks for respobnding. i pulled and changed all 6 plugs tonite, they all looked a little black there, car has 142000 miles and the plugs that were in the car were gapped at .035 i installed new autolite platinum plugs gapped at .054 per napa. erased code and seems to be fine for now, as i said it is intermittant. coulda spark plug actually work sometimes and other times not? i appreciatte your help. i will let you know what happens in the next day opr so. i bought a fuel injector, just in case. thanks art

sounds like to me that you may have a bad Coil Pack causing this.

Need some more info on the Engine...Size,dohc,ohc, etc...can you please respond?

Well, I have a 2000 ford taurus - replaced spark plugs, wires and coil pack and still comes up with #1 valve misfiring - what is next

wel i found out througha friend he had a similar prob on his truck and it ended up being a oxy sensor i just got the car back from my daughter and the cat was busted on the front one and i am replacing all four o2 sensors , we will see if that was it, if not i am totally lost
