My 2000 Mer Sable LS Prem w/ 62,500 miles has been a great car.

Just recently replaced the battery but that has been the only problem.

I''ve been noticing a slight stumble or hesitation at idle but it was not very bad.

Tonight while driving home in traffic the hesitation was more noticeable and the engine light came on.

It still drove fine on the way home.

Do this sound like a fuel filter problem?

Sort of sounds like the symptoms I got when my DPFE sensor went (egr pressure sensor). Get the codes read and we'll see IF that's it.
