2000 Taurus SE: Audio Questions
Hey i recently picked up an 00' taurus se (loaded, i might add), and i have a few questions.
i have had an aftermarket deck with an amp, subs, and box in my 95 caravan for a long time. after looking at my taurus, i dont see where or how i can mount an aftermarket deck. the plate has climate controls and all the radio/cd options built into one single faceplate (i have the mach 6 cd system with the changer in the trunk).
Is there any way i can wire everything so i can run my amp and subs off the stock system and changer? i dont know where i can find a specific new plate to mount an aftermarket deck in because of the awkward shape of the faceplate with climate controls. i doubt the stock deck has RCA outputs in the back so i dont know how i could get music to the amp (im not looking to wire the amp to the factory speakers, just to the sub).
I've heard of people just putting their deck into the little rectangle slot beside the lighter socket, but wouldnt that negate the whole 6 cd changer its got? i like the look of the stock faceplate and the controls so if i can run my amp and subs off the stock deck i would love to.
any help or tips you all could give would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT: i found the Mach audio system box under the carpet in the trunk, and it has 3 plugs in it. black, grey, and black, from left to right. IF i found the left and right channel audio wires, could i splice them into some rca cables and attach them straight into my amp? then i could run the antenna wire in, my power to the battery and a ground and i should be set.... yes? then i could use the stock system instead of my not-so-pretty deck that i've been rockin' for a few years.
