030309_1747[00].jpg Could you help me and tell me whar these parts are. The one with the black looking hose has black residue pretty thick on it and also a hole on the side of it close to the end. Is the hole suppose to be there? Could this be causing a mis fire? thanks

Hello and good day:

First may I say that the Photos you have provided are a little Fuzzy/Blurred...But what I see in the first photo is the EGR Valve.

The Second Photo appears to be the Return Pipe from the EGR to the Exhaust Manifold...but not sure.

Can you please provide clearer, and more detail photos.

That makes since on the second picture on what you said. The return pipe. It has a whole lot of build up on it. Is it ok to clean it up and what do you recommend to clean it with if so? Finally got to the coil and noticed a small crack. Hope that is whats causing the misfire. Also do you know anything about the actron scanner and code reader? On the diagnostic test it shows the I.d. number of the test with letters and numbers. Would you happen to know what each i.d. number refers too? It is a 2001 merc. sable 3.0 24 valve dohc duratech engine. thanks
