2003 Taurus A/C Fan

I just had 60K Maint. Done but don't think there is a connection. My A/C was running with the Fan set one notch below maximum. It just stopped running. Now the fan only will run when set to maximum. Is there a separate fuse or something that a novice can check?

You need a new blower resistor. They are about $15 and easy to replace. There is a TSB concerning this.

Exclamation Re: 2003 Taurus A/C Fan

Thanks for Service Bulletin.

Any other people having similar issues. For those who read the TSB, althought it states for "in limited warranty status only", , any "average Joe" can read and connect the dots. Water & electricity do not mix, and because of leak, parts fail, and if you are outside of warranty, $$$$$$ from your pocket (typ $300 parts + 4 hrs labor = OUCH) Just had mine fixed by local dealer. My opiinion is it's a hidden defect, covering almost 3 years of production, (3yrs from TSB). FORD should issue a recall to fix this.

Think how many Taurus/Sable made in 3 years USA/Canada Market.
Not talking 5000 units here, Talking lots more (probably more like 100,000 or more). Say 25 % have to pay out of pocket. That's a lot of $$$ for a stupid " design defect".

Anybody else have similiar opinion to mine.

Well if they won't recall the V8 cams in the Taurus SHO they aren't going to mess with the blower motor resistor.

It's easy to change and cheap. Do it and go on.
