I purchased an 03 Taurus SES 3 months ago it currently has 64,446.MI and today on my way to work while on the Interstate it started feeling as if it were losing power then I noticed the service engine light begain blinking. I did make it to work but I'm concerned. You can feel the car jerking. I have no clue what to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

On my lunch hour I took my car to and Autozone and they pulled the code for me there were 2 codes the first one was P0301 and the 2nd was P0316.

P0301 is Cylinder #1 misfire and P0316 is a misfire related code. Which engine??? First check would be the spark plug. See if it's carbon tracked or has any other damage. Misfires can get a bit more complicated so see what you find with the #1 spark plug.

Removed the #1 spark plug and found that it had oil on the tip, the car has powertrain warranty still in effect but of course it's going to be a war and I need my car. I took the car into a local gargage and they have just called me saying I have a broken valve spring as well #1. The car does make a loud clanging noise from that area. I've never had this happen to any car that I have ever owned. Any idea what would cause this to happen.
