When gas is applied, after shifting into drive, it will occasionally feel like it's been bumped from behind before it will accelerate. It almost feels like it is shifting hard, but it only does it when going from park to drive, or while in first going slow and then accelerating.

Transmission fluid is not low. There are 36,000 miles on the car.

Any ideas?

I would get a computer code readout .. there may be a transmission error code stored.
Don't you still have warantee coverage?
What does your friendly Ford dealership say?
