I have a 2005 Taurus ~50k miles. The right front makes a clunking rattle sound when only doing a hard left over an uneven surface while driving slow. If I sit in the passenger side and my son drives over the same surface no noise. I can't figure it out. I have new tires and the plastic stabilizer bars and wheel bearings have been replaced. Any ideas on what my issue is? Motor mount, sway bar bushing...?

Upper strut mount could also make that kind of noise.

I had that happen to me yesterday in my 01 Taurus. I was doing a hard left turn pulling out of a parking lot and it went CLUNK. I drove it aprox 1/4 mile and with every bump I would hit it would clunk. I stopped the car, turned the wheel all the way to the right and got out and looked, didnt see anything so I went on with no problems since. I plan on pulling the tire this weekend and looking around.

If memory corrects me, there was a TSB about this problem with the front clip bushings slipping, thus causing that "thump". I have been getting this for some time on my 97 sable, I just have not tried the replacement yet.
If it were from the back, you might check the stabilizer bar mounts to the struts. I found mine rusted, and needed replacements.

Had to replace sway bar links on my 01 SES,they are plastic also,don't know if these are also referred to as stabilizer bar mounts
