93 Taurus has a miss under load
93 Taurus
I'm on the list because I'm running down an intermittent miss under load. Idles is smooth as glass. I'm wondering if the belt is slipping therefore making the alternator give out intermittent power surges. I know alternator voltage affects my Jaguar and would guess the same for a computer controlled Taurus?
17,000 miles ago I replaced the spark wires, rotor, cap, plugs (although I may have passed on the middle rear and I have that on my list as suspect), ignition coil and air filter. 16,000 miles ago the fuel filter was replaced.
I'm thinking it could be some carbon build up in the air intake system or EGR valve? On my Jaguar I've used the vacuum to suck in cleaner. I could do the Sea Foam through a vaccum but I'm not famaliar with the Taurus and not sure which hose to use as the vacuum.
The car has almost 165,000 miles on it. I drive it and the mis doesn't bother me as much as it bothers my wife. It's her commute car and she worries that there is something terribly wrong.
