95 taurus gl questions - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi. New here. My girl friend is look for a car and we found a 95 taurus gl in GREAT shape only 83000 miles and the owner wants 1000 for it nothing wrong runs great all I really want to know is if there are any consitent or normal problems with this year of taurus anything i should watch for or look into getting replaced??

The only thing to really watch out for, is that they over heat some times because of the water pump. I've had 2 Merc Sables and a Taurus that had that problem, but I used to run the cars hard. So I replaced the water pump and thermostat, and they ran like champs, .

Transmission failure is also a common problem.

Transmission problems on the 95 have been corrected in 93 - 94. Depends on your production date. They installed a steel front piston. The only real problem with them
is springs. Be prepared to replace all at one time or another. And another thing. Ford recommends installing a transmission cooler and curb your driving habits.
