95 Taurus LX SW 3.8 STALLS WHEN HOT - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

My daughter has a 95 Taurus wagon LX w/3.8 and when it runs for awhile it stalls out and won.t start. When it cools for awhile it runs fine again. I changed the coil by recomendation but no fix. The check engine light is not on does that mean there are no codes to be read? Does anyone else have the same problem and what did they do to fix it?

Obviously heat related but could also be something ready to fail.
Possibles are fuel pump, quite often as they heat up a weak one will fail or produce less pressure. If yours is in tank then try making sure the tank is at leat half full of gas. An intank pump needs the fuel to cool it. You may need to hook up a pressure gauge.
Other possibilities include the ignition module.
Coolant level okay? flushed lately? Gauge reading high?

All Taurus/Sable pumps are in tank, The ignition module is actually not mounted on the distributor on this engine, it is mounted through the firewall- you have to remove the cowl screen to replace it.
