I have a 96 taurus with a 3.0. It has a ticking noise that tends to get louder as I accelerate. I replaced the lifters but no change. I have heard it may be the injectors. How do I diagnose this? Appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Ticking noises can occur if a gasket is used on the rear seal retainer. The retainer was originally installed with a small bead of RTV. The gasket may cause the seal retainer to have interference with the flexplate.
Could also be Cam issue. There is a known prob on the SHO engines and issues have been raised on the 4.6 and 3.0.
