96 Ford Taurus Overheated heard Click no longer sparks
Out on the freeway on a long distance trip. Everything seemed to be going great when my wife looked down and noticed the heat was hear the red line, where 10 min previous it had been fine. We pulled off to the side of the road and as we did so there was a click type sound and her power steering went along with engine power. We let it sit about 1.5 hours then put water in as the coolant was completly boiled out. But when we went to start it, it turned over but didn't seem to fire. Buddy of mine happend to be headed the same direction and he stopped when he saw us and tested the spark and found the distributor no longer sparking though the engine would turn over fine. Is there a kill switch for overheating on the 96 Ford Taurus? Tried pulling the positive end of the batt and letting that sit a bit with no change. Any ideas? Thanks Folks.
