96 Taurus Cooling Issue

My 96 Taurus runs fine but looses coolant from the reservoir cap. It doesn't overheat unless idling for extended period. Eventually of course it will overheat when it runs out of water. I have replaced the cap and the thermostat. Can't seem to solve the water lost.

Any ideas? Thanks

Re: 96 Taurus Cooling Issue

Get a pressure test on cooling system and that should show any external leaks . If still losing coolant , get a block test carried out .

Re: 96 Taurus Cooling Issue

Check that your cap is rated for 16 pounds.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
