My first post, Lets start with a C E L (P1742) Torque Converter Clutch
Solenoid. from what I have read the engine/trans acted out and has
shifting and engine rpm problems. 3.0 w/AXODE Trans.
FYI AXODE rebuilt 18 mo. ago with only 300 miles on it. I just got the
car few days ago no CEL when I picked it up, Now has CEL warning lite
P1742. I started it up today *NO* CEL warning but lots of trans fluid under
car not coming from pan?? looks like flywheel area, thinking Torque Converter
area has dropped large amont of fluid. ?? The warranty was for 12 mo
12K miles.
What do you think see if the mechanic has a good travel agent, for
this trip I will be paying for.
What to do!! Junk it, 96 Taurus looks well taken care of, clean runs great
in park, with 100342 miles I only have $900.00 in it.

If it's under warranty, then get it fixed. Next time it breaks down, then junk it.
