might be a noob question but im not a ford mechanic, im a diesel mechanic...
do i need a special too and how long should this take?
its a 97 ford taurus

a pitman arm puller works very well when separating the ball joint from the lower control arm. You may not be able to bring the control arm down far enough to clear the ball joint, I found that removing the rear control arm bolt at the frame will allow it to lower just enough. Axle will pop out of trans axle with little effort from a screwdriver or pry bar. Might check wheel bearing while you have it apart. Guessing aprox 1 hour each side.

thank you. im only doing one side.
i would replace both but my friend can only afford to do the bad side.

any other advice?
