MNF350

I have a '97 SHO which seems to have lost illumination for the gauge faces at night. The dash lights and door panel lights turn on properly with the headlights, and respond to the dimmer switch, but the only lights in the cluster are the white bulbs behind the gauges that illuminate the needles, tripometer, and odometer, which makes the markings on the gauges very difficult to read.

Any ideas? I'm guessing it's something in the cluster, but I didn't want to rip it out if it someone else had been through this and had another suggestions.

The cluster is very easy to remove. Take the two screws out of the upper part of the bezel, then pull the bezel off. Then 4 screws hold the IC in. Probably one of the electrical connectors unless the bulbs all decided to go at once.

It would be a good idea to replace the bulbs anyway as they dim with age.

A good visual mode here is to replace the bulbs with LED type. This car really change how it looks. The cluster uses the standard 194s for the general illumination and 74s for the small warning icons.

SUPER BRIGHT LEDS home has the bulbs you need to replace these if you want. I went to a blue theme and love it. Also changed the two in the shifter to blue.
