Hi, I have been working on a 97 Sho for my son. I thought everything was done he has been driving it with minor problems. But then the stumper. The car will not shift out of 1st gear, if I use the manual shift it will go into 2nd when I move the gear shift but then it will go into to neutral after second. I took it to a transmission shop they pulled the pan there was nothing wrong with the fluid. There is no code being thrown. Trani shop put it back together to see if they could get some code off of it. He said it was shifting fine until he hit a large bump then it started not shifting again. He said it is probably an electrical problem. Where would I take it what should I look for any help would be great. the car has 180,000 miles on it I had replaced the filter and fluid 500 miles ago, it is not discolored and there is no debris in the pan.

Sure it's not the transmission's shift cable / linkage that's just been knocked out of adjustment after hitting bump ?

The Transmission shop said they checked the cable, and they are convinced it is electrical. They said they would pull it and rebuild it but they are afraid I would have the same problem after it is put back in.?

Possibly the transmission range sensor? I'd think the tech should've caught it, but I've seen people miss things more obvious. Check out the link and see if it applies.
