97 taurus gl 3.0l vulcan remote starter question

I was just wondering if all 97 ford taurus's have the pats system. I know it is the keys with the rf transmitter in them, but my mom has a 97 and the keys look normal and you can use just plain metal keys from any key cutting place and start it. When i look for info on installing the remote starter it says even the 97 needs the transponder security bypass module, but I am positive hers doesn't use that system. I am hoping someone can help me out with this.

If it's just a plain key then you don't need a bypass module.

I had a Python remote start installed in my '97 taurus.. It was a standard install and I just use the regular keys.
