1997 V6 Taurus GL, 75K miles, Antilock brakes
My '97 Taurus is nearing time to replace the front and rear struts. When I replaced a front wheel bearing I recall wrestling to get them out and in since the strut bottom slides into the steering knuckle.
Can anyone tell me how to get them out without too much trouble? I've thought about putting the spring compressors on the strut spring before jacking the car, and hoping it will help the strut just pop out of the knuckle, but don't know if that will help.
I can't believe it is this hard, and Hayne's just brushes over the problem.
Or is there a another way to compress the strut so that it will just pop out of the knuckle when you drop the suspension?
Help from those who have actually done this is particularly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
