when running AC the car runs hot. I have had the AC checked and charged. tech said it was a fan cooling switch. went to Autozone to buy one and of course those guys didnt know what i needed and neither do I. any help? thanks.

Do the fans come on?

I would suspect an externally clogged radiator unless it's a Vulcan.

the fans are running now, I replaced the intergrated power module. but same problem. I ran the hose on the radiator too.

seems the needle will nudge higher the farther I drive even w/o the AC on. I'm thinking a thermostat issue.

Im guessing a bad thermostat, externally or internally clogged radiator or bad water pump impeller.

car did not run hot in 40 miles in the middle of the day heat. I didnt run deforsoter or AC. something with those units making the car run hot. What parts do the deforster and and AC have in common?

They both use the ac compressor. Which should turn on the high speed fan when the temp gets up or when at idle. They also add heat load to the radiator because the heat from the condenser flows into the radiator.

The radiator fins on these cars will fill up with fuzz and drastically reduce their effectiveness. Here is a picture of one looking up from the bottom.

From what I have seen the fuzz builds up at the areas that are away from the fan blades. The fan creates enough pull to keep the fins clean but in the areas that are not directly in front of the fan it builds up. This is difficult to get to without removing the fans.

Fortunately the fans are really easy to remove with only one bolt and the electrical connector to remove.
