I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL with about 147,000 on it.

It has a starting issue.

when I go to start it, the engine doesn't completely turn over. It sounds like its trying to start just doesn't have enough "umph". When I try the second time and give it a little gas, it'll start but it'll jump and sputter then I have to rev it up.

At first I thought it was a battery issue because I have a toddler son who loves to climb in my car and open doors and some of my doors have been left ajar.
however after charging the battery I still had the issue.

Never had any problems with the car starting.. now after I sunk $3k into after a major radiator problem, I'm wondering what the heck is going on.

My guesses are: starter, battery, or alternator.. but my guess is as good as anyones..

Hello and good Day:

There could be a Variety of reason causing the Starter not to turn your Engine over.

1. Do you have a CEL (check engine light) on?

2. Have you Battery Tested at Advance Auto, AutoZone, PepBoys, or any local Shop that will do it for free or for a minimal charge.

3. You can also have your Alternator Tested as Well there.

4. Your Battery may be bad, or your Alternator...You may have a Bad Starter, or even a loose, or broken Connector between the Starter, and Battery.

With the Stuttering after starting it could be a Coil Pack.
