Hi all,
I have a 98 Taurus with 160,000 miles. First off the engine is very smooth and powerful when idling and cruising at a constant speed. I have to crank the engine a number of times and finally the engine will start and idle fine after a sluggish start. When cranking it seems to me that the engine is not getting fuel. I have turned the key on and off to prime the fuel prime lines and such, but that does not seem to help. Once started I have noticed that it is sluggish if you press the accelerator quickly. When I first put the car in gear it will stutter and sometimes stall. When taking off from a stop it will stutter terribly and I have to feather the gas pedal and seems to be worse if there is more load on the system (i.e. air conditioner). Once it is up to speed it cruises smoothly. I have changed the fuel pump recently and the fuel filter.
Thanks,
Greg
