My grandmother has a 98 taurus and the heater core went out so she took it to the shop and they told here it would be 900.00 to replace it. I was just wondering if i could do it for her and save her alot of money.So if anyone else has had this problem or can help i would appershiate it. Thank you

$900 bucks??? They either priced that so high because they don't want the job or they are trying to plain ole rip someone off. Dealers will sometimes try this tactic to sell a car also, Beware!! I'd try pricing several diff mechanics. Im curious, where are you from?

If it's an independent shop, they are probably assuming the whole heater box has to be removed to replace it. All you have to do is pull the dash out enough to take off the temperature blend door motor on the side of the box, carefully remove the links from the levers, then remove the access cover then the core just slides out. Don't forget to take the heater hoses under the hood. Good Luck!!!
