Unregistered

I have recently had similar problems as others with the heater core. I had it replaced and the engine flushed. After that I had the heater by-pass tube changed because of a leak two days later. Then about three weeks later the coolant tank cracked. It was stained and cracked all across the bottom. I had it replaced with a new one. Two days later the new one was leaking. Had it replaced. Worked fine for 4 days then the cap popped apart while driving it yesterday. I thought I might be getting extra pressure on the coolant tank. I dont have any noticeable leaks or coolant level lose. No coolant in the oil or white smoke indicating a head gasket problem. The temperture guage shows no overheating (good and steady below halfway on running temp.) I was wondering what else besides head gasket might cause excess pressure on the coolant tank without causing overheating problems. Need help the problem is nickling and diming me to death. Please help!!!! THANKS

I had to be simplistic, but you may not have a problem at all. Sometimes when it rains, it pours. I also had a bypass hose go bad, and later my coolant tank starting leaking horribly. You may have had all these problems happen around the same time just due to bad luck. If you're car is not overheating, and it's no longer leaking, I'd forget about it and not assume there is a further problem.

The older style OEM tanks with the black tops are junk. Get the newer type that has a clear top. You can find them on eBay cheap.
