Hi All,

Overflow cap fell off, ended up overheating and blew head gasket. After repairing the gasket I have 3 misfires, cyl 1(repaired head gasket side) cyl 5 and 6(oppisite side). Misfires at low speed and idle. Hiway runs great.

Compression on both heads all equal across both heads forgot the readings. I have changed plug and wires. Examined coil pac for cracks, sprayed mist across coil pac (no arching),changed injectors and repulled plugs all look fine.

Car dosn't loose water and oil is clean. I am leaning towards the camshaft position sensor?

Any help would be appriciated before I dump more money into this.

My suggestion to you is send it out to a shop that has the proper scan tools and i
don't mean those cheap $200.00 testers you buy on line. " before you dump more money
into this. " They need to do a balance test. Cam position sensor has nothing to do with
your problem. Mine drove just fine for 3 months before i got around to replacing it. Was not on my priority list at the time.

forgot to mention I am getting a egr valve error code can that cause misfires?

If it is stuck open or leaking,yes. What code number ?

egr code is p0401 insuffecent flow

also I reset the codes befor xmas car was used regularly and now i am only getting 1 misfire code instead of the 3
p0301 cyl 1 misfire

Well changed coil pac and egr still p301. I am also noticing an exhaust leak can a bad manifold gasket cause the code?

ok no exhaust leak.
Forgot to mention it has the ohv engine
Compression reads115 accross all cylinders. the new coil pack, cleaned the injection system. another new set of premium wires and plat plugs. swapped injectors. new egr valve and air flow sensors. still get misfire on cylinder 1 code. Mechanic is guessing now it may be the computer module.

any truth to this or can it still be somthing I missed?

Even with good compression, you can have leakage in a cylinder that causes a misfire. Do a cylinder leakdown test on Cylinder # 1. You could have a valve sealing issue, a piston/ring/cylinder issue, or a cylinder head issue.
