Would one of you kindly tell me the stock plugs used in a 99 merc. sable OHV engine? I can't believe what an unnecessary pain in the a** this is. Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the forums. The factory plugs are Motorcraft AWSF-32PP

You can use any plugs that are specified for your car. I just did a tune up on my 2000 Ford Taurus and I used Bosch spark plugs that are already pregapped and I used motorcraft spark plug wires. For everything else I use motorcraft. Good Luck with your car.

I guess the single electrode Bosch plugs are OK but there's been issues with the +2 & +4's.

Spark plug problems! Please help!

jwko thanks again for the update. I put in Bosch +4 (4458) and I read your article so I will be looking out for any issues with my plugs.

Heard bad things about the Bosch plugs in the Ford/Merc, don't want to go there, thanks. Original plug awsf-32PP has been discontinued. Ford dealer now recommends................agsf-32FM or (same thing) sp-432. Thank you all for the help and input.
