Hey all...I am new to the forums. Anyway parent's 2000 Taurus SEL Sedan has its anti-theft light blinking while the car is off. This just started yesterday. I don't know the specifics of the alarm system, but I believe its just the factory transmitter etc. Does anyone know how to disable the blinking theft light or why it is blinking? Any help would be appreciated. I can't find a thing about this on the internet....
The anti-theft lights primary purpose is to indicate the presence of the Secure-Lock passive anti-theft system. (The coded Ignition Key system.) On my Mother's 1999 Sable it also lights solid when the doors are locked indicating the arming of the perimeter anti-theft system. (The system that monitors the lock cylinders, door latches and hood open switch.) The light returns to normal flashing operation after 30 seconds of door closed activity.
However, on my 2001 Taurus the anti-theft light only flashes. It does not light solid when arming the perimeter anti-theft system by locking doors.
