Blower Automatically Cycling???

All,

I have a 2005 Mercury Sable. I started it this morning and the blower for the front window defroster started cycling on and off (on 2 sec., off 2 sec., on 2 sec., off 2 sec...etc.). It was doing this automatically almost as if it had a mind of it's own.

I turned off the power on the A/C panel, and the blower continued to cycle on and off...just the same. I tried changing the function as well (i.e. floor, etc.) and temp +/-, and blower +/- with no effect on the automatic cycling of the blower.

I probably have a short. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

You have climate control in this rig? Most likely a bad blower motor controller.

Thanks Ric,

There's advertising on it just to pay the hosting bill. But I'm really committed to not charging for the repair information. So far it's working.
