I have a 2001 Ford Taurus V6 - 3.0L vin U 182ci - MFI GAS OHV, with Traction Control and my brakes are slipping a bit when I brake at higher speeds. The master cylinder does have a slight leak coming from the front of the part at the front, I believe it is called the proportioning valve section. I am wondering if this leak is what could be causing the slipping and if this is an urgent fix. In advance I appreciate everyone's time and comments. Cheers.

Not sure what you mean by brakes slipping . Is it not the ABS / traction control kicking in when braking hard ?

Almost like I push the brakes and and nothing happens for a split second though I can feel the are compressing but the car does not slow very much. Then after a split second the brakes work as normal. I'm assuming this is the ABS/Traction control not kicking in.

The traction control has been randomly kicking on and off when i accelerate in normal/dry weather conditions, so I just off the traction control.

Could try bleeding brakes , and checking all wheel sensors / wiring . May even be master cyl. itself .

K I'll try bleeding the brakes before I switch out the Master Cylinder. Does the leak from the front of the Master Cylinder mean anything? I guess what I'm asking is does that mean that it is bad itself?

You dont want to mess about with a leaking master cyl . If it's leaking fluid it's probably drawing air also .

Which means the leaking master cyl needs to be changed for sure? Sorry about all the questions.

No problem with the questions , with brakes I always take the adage "if in doubt replace it "
