Read burnt odor

hello newbie here, have a 2002 taurus almost 90k miles, one and only prob so far, there is a burnt odor coming from under the hood, cant find the source jus wondering if anyone out there could help me out... it only happens when the engine is warming or when driving at high rate speeds and stop,thats when I notice it anyone??? thanx

hard to tell with out smelling describe if it smells like oil burning or rubber or electronics.


either way you probably should take it to mechanic.

If the belt(s) need changed they will smell like burnt rubber form slipping.

sorry guys i forgot to mention its also a little bit of smoke that comes from under the hood when i smell it. i wanna say its like a burnt oil smell but not sure.

Found the cure.. freaking leaking oil pan gasket. the gasket was bad, oil was leaking onto the damn catalytic converter. Ultimately causing the burning smell and smoking when the car heats up...
A $400 job.
replacing the oil pan gasket, oil change (because 2 quarts low),
replaced oxegen sensor and 25 point quality assurance check.

IT SAVED ME AN ENGINE LOCK-UP..
