Cam Shaft Belt/Chain/Gear - Duratec?????

I got a 2001 tuarus with the 24v Duratech V6. Is it a belt, chain, or gear driven motor? If belt or chain, how often should it be changed? Is the Duratec a interference or non-interference engine?

On close inspection of the motor, I thought I found a cam shaft belt. But I cannot find any info in the owners manual. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

The main cam drive is chain controled. The cam belt you found is a secondary belt or "extra" belt to drive the PS pump on the drivers side....that is where you found the belt right?

yeah, thanks for the help. Didn't think to look for the PS pump on the driver's side.

cool Re: Cam Shaft Belt/Chain/Gear - Duratec?????

The belt on the drivers side DOES NOT DRIVE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. It drives the water pump. This is only on 2001 and later Taurus/Sable Duratecs. The power steering pump is on the pass. side of the motor up top. You will see a hose going to it from the reservour right next to it on the right strut tower.
