2000 Taurus duratec 24v - misfire and very rough idle - no engine light - not ignition coils - would faulty camshaft postion sensor cause this without engine light coming on ?

How many miles and has the sensor ever been replaced? It's a legendary Taurus issue about every 60K-65K miles.

My first one went at 62K, missed shifts, rough idle.

Now at 123K, the missed shifts are baackkk... But this time it is the entire shaft and the top sensor. It'll be about 4 hours under teh hood with the right timing CPS removal tool.....
