Can someone show me a picture or point out where the camshaft synchronizer is on the 04 mercury sable, 3.0l OHV. I see pictures of close up or disassembled engines pointing to them. But I don't know where in the engine the picture is or what's been taken apart. I can't find the thing.

Thanks for the reply.
I saw that photo but it doesn't seem to match up to my engine. Can you tell me where it is in relation to say the spark plug line? or something obvious like that where a dummy couldn't mistake it?
Also, a shop told me that if I took off the 'top'? there is a brass nipple inside that could be greased and would prolong the need to change it out.
I'm not getting a check engine or code yet. Just the chirp which at time is a loud squeal that is very metal sounding.
Also this shop says they use the Dorman stuff all the time and think it's great. On here some say don't. Could it be they've improved? Some of those posts are older.
The Dorman part comes with the sensor and positioner for $50 or so.

standing in front of the car looking at the engine, to the right of the center of the intake in the block, near where the transmission and engine is bolted together. You probably cant see it, you'll have to reach down in there and feel it.

Look at diagram below, The green arrows are the ends of the valve covers. Red arrow is where the thermostat housing is located. Blue arrow is the assembly you are looking for.

I think I finally found the sensor. About 1 1/2 inch top? It has a wire bundle over it that would have to be moved to get the thing out. How is that done?
Is there any risk in moving that or unhooking it from somewhere?
How does it unhook?

Someone told me the synchronizer has a brass nipple for grease. Who know about that? Could I just remove the synchronizer, put some grease on it and put it back in without any fuss?

Also one of the auto parts sites used to have a nice app that you could select the system and it would tell you and show you where every sensor was and what it looked like. I can't find that anymore. Does anyone know where I could find something like that again?
