Changing O2 Sensor

Okey I am having trouble changing a rear o2 sensor on a 2000 sable 24v DOHC Duratec engine. I am hoping that someone has a tip about making it easy reaching down in back of the engine.

the second issue is that I thought this car had 2 upstream and 2 down stream but I have found 2 in the engine compartment and 1 under the car and I swear it is before the cat. am I crazy. I will post a piture of the third one tomorrow

here are a couple of pics of the two in the engine for reference

Exclamation Re: Changing O2 Sensor

Bank one is the Rear set of cylinders, bank two the front set. There are 4 sensors, I assure you. The ones you point to are upstream 02 sensors (before cats). To find the downstreams (after the cats) just start at the other side of the cats and run your hand down the pipe until you find the sensor. I have seen some cars with the downstream in the center of the cats, but not on yours. Remove the right cowl screen and the panel it sits on and you may hain some room to work... if that's the right one... where you thought it was bank 2 you might have the wrong side. If the code was for bank 2, it's the front one.

The sensors are # by bank and location.
1/1- Rear Upstream
1/2- Rear Downstream
2/1- Front Upstream
2/2- Front Downstream

Re: Changing O2 Sensor

Tbird thanks for setting me straight. And you are right, if you were wondering, after I got under the car today I realized that the o2 sensor I thought was ahead of the cat was actually after it. lol. I must have got turned around the first time. Again thanks for the help, especially with correcting me about what bank was what.
