Cooling Fan Part #'s What's the difference - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi to all. I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE 3.0 V6 OHV 180,000 miles.

My mechanic says I need a cooling fan on the passenger side. He checked fuses, etc and I went on two websites first I went on:

RockAuto site and the Motorcraft part # RF144(F8DZ8C607AC) then on
Ford Website and the part # RF159(doesn't give me #)

What is the difference?

That is called a " box car " number. It's used for inventory, part shelf location, reordering,
and quality control. Prime exp. F8 means 1998. That is not part of the part number.

Thanks for answering Chipset. The question wasn't so technical but you do know your stuff.

I don't know if there is a difference in part from RF144 to RF159.

The reason I ask if the parts are the same because if they are there is about a $70 difference in price by which I would be able to negotiate with Ford and get it at my local dealership instead of ordering it online and having to wait. Again Thanks and my best.

Well i thought i'd really make your day. RF159 is the left side. RF144 is not a good number from ford. It has been changed up to RF222. right side. One little bit of advice. If the part
number is different the part is different.

Thanks for the reply. You did make my day Chipset, lol. Believe me I appreciate any info. Knowledge is power and I thought that maybe the number was a change and that it was the same part. Thanks and my best.
