I have a '97 taurus, which I want to install the door panel lights in, that were available on the '96's. I have the wire harnesses for both doors, I need to find the wires to hook them to..they appear to be the black with a blue stripe wire and the black ground as that is what was on the '96 that I pulled the harnesses from. unless they changed it on the '97's or there is a diferent color wire. I found the black ground but not the black with blue stripe. Any help would be appreciated..

I can't say much about the wiring as I've never really looked at it. However, if no one replies you might be better off spending $20 or so on a Haynes/Chilton repair manual. They will have the wiring diagrams in them. I'm just not certain if the books are separated by the 96/97 years. I believe they will go from 96-99.

I think all you will need to do is tap into the interior dome circuit (which I believe is your blue wire circuit you are looking for, but is under the dash, from fuse panel to the dome lamp) They (Ford) show the 95 Year models, lists the color blue for the dome circuit. This way, it will work just like factory & come on only when you have the doors open or have the dome lamps turned on manually from the dash (dome-on switch). Hope this helps!
