My 96 taurus keeps getting a door open idiot lgiht on when all doors are closed. This causes all interior courtesey lights to stay on. Unplugged the relay which energizes these to keep the battery from draining.

I suspect driver door but not certain. Anyone know the rough location of this switch and wiring??? Hard to get at?? Thanks

The door ajar switches are located on the door latch inside of the door. You will have to remove the door panels to access the switch which is a 2 wire connector. Although, the lock actuator is also a 2 wire connector. If in doubt, disconnect both at each door until you find the one that is shorted. If the lights are still on you may have a wiring problem. Make sure to check the door jamb wiring on all doors. To replace the door ajar switch the latch has to be removed, and then there is a tab you have to carefully lift before turning the switch clockwise or counter-clockwise depending on which side you are doing. Check with a Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer for more instructions.

I had the same problem with my 98 sho. All I did was spray WD40 in the door latch and never had any problems with it since.
