Does anyone know how many miles you would have to drive a 1999 Sable DOHC through for it's drive cycle? I had a P0401 DTC and I cleared it using an Actron scan tool and took the car to to get an emission test. It passed everything except for the Readiness test and the technician told me I had to drive it through it's drive cycle, but he was unsure of how many miles that was.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think you need 3 or 4 drive cycles to get it ready. Not sure how much difference mileage makes. On the wifes car, she just drove to work for a few days, then it was ready.

What consists of a drive cycle? (Sorry I'm new at the whole OBD thing)!

Can't lay my hands on the 1999 drive cycle for EGR, but here's the 2000 drive cycle:

Start Vehicle WITHOUT returning to Key Off. Idle vehicle for 15 seconds. Drive at 64 Km/h (40 MPH) until ECT is at least 76.7 C (170o F).From a stop, accelerate to 72 Km/h (45 MPH) at ½ to ¾ throttle. Repeat 3 times.

BTW stang, you can hook up your scanner, put it on the 'OBD test', if nothing shows 'incomplete', you should be ready to re-test.
