The Emergency brake light on my 1999 Ford Taurus SE sometimes will not light up when the emergency brake in engaged. Could this be a low brake fluid level problem or is it just stubborn?? It seems that when I release the brake and push it in again, the light will go on.

Sound like a bad parking brake switch. It has one wire on it and is on the parking brake pedal assy.

Would it cost alot to fix?? or could I do it myself even though I am not that knowledgeable about cars??

You can do it. I think its held in by one bolt or just clips in.

i got the same problem, what do i do goto nappa buy a new switch or what?
