I hate to risk starting a thread that may already have been discussed, but I could'nt find how to search.

Anyhoo, we have an '01 Taurus standard 3.0 V6 that always seems to idle high. It has only 34,000 miles. It wants to lunge when you put it in gear. It is loaded with traction control and such.

Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the 2000 and 2001 models had this problem. I havent heard of a fix for it though.

Well, I took off the throttle body because the throttle would stick closed and the pedal took a little force and then the car would lunge when it let loose. The inside was covered with black crap which, although the sticker says not to, I cleaned off. The throttle no longer sticks. After about a minute the rpm's drop to about 900.
It seems this may have helped.
