Ok this is something i've been thinking about seeign a few examples in the car yards.
Taking Falcons aside. If i someone was in the market for a small buzz box for $14-15k. A good car to consider would be a Taurus. Yeah yeah i know many people can't stand the shape of them, but after looking at the car feature wise and what you get it isn't a bad thing at all.
I recently saw an immaculate one for like $13,000 with leather climate control etc, and not to mention the power of teh Duratec V6 making 149kw a de-tuned engine from the S-Type.
I've seen ones aroudn with a subtle body kit and a small spoiler they actually look nice.
And before anyone rush's to conclusion, no i'm not interested in buying one at all i love my EF too much.

I actually dont mind the look, definately something different than all the other sedans on the road here....

Anything different is good - but a Taurus ..... My biggest problem with them is the oval-ness of the car. Everything is an oval. Changing the headunit is a challenge thanks to the oval ness of the dashboard. But the motor is good, the shape has a lot of potential (slippery + unique), and best of all theres a blue oval on it in various locations.
Having said that, did you know there is a Nascar-style Taurus in Grand Turismo 2. Its still FWD and worth a few laughs, especially when you spin the front wheels.

My boss had one and it has turned him off Ford's for life.
Apart from the 3 gearboxes, 5 batteries (through faulty wiring somewhere) and countless other problems all within 2 years, the shape of it looks absolutely CRAP !!!

Has it really got 149kW ?
The Mondeo here in NZ, has a V6 Duratec but only puts out 125kW, would this be the same engine, I could see myself in a modded 150kW Mondeo, especally if the Falcon went FWD.
