Got to Ford CD/DVDs and download the ISO image for the 1997, and burn to CD. The use the CD to install on your computer.

I've done this for my 97 and it appears these are the true factory manuals. Of course you may see reference to special Ford tools to do the job.

its a pain honestly, i just had mine put it. u have to take the frame down and drop the engine down (u have to find somethig to hold the engine) just to get enough space to bolt it on. then u have to hold them both up to get tha frame back on. good luck but it can be done.

I'm about to R&R the tranny again. 4th time since May but usually not related to the tranny.

I just drop the whole subframe engine tranny and exhaust pipe. Then put the subframe up on jack stands to remove the Y pipe and TC nuts. Pick the motor off the subframe and set it on the floor. Then pull off the tranny.

Last time took about 12 hours from start to finish over 3 days.

Just the thought of having to drop and replace a FWD tranny is enough to keep me in my RWD.
