Fuel mileage question/ASAP - Ford Forums

Hi,

For starters, I have a 94' taurus GL & recently just replaced both of my head gaskets along with the water pump (also did an oil change with new oil filter). Basically, right after the recent fix; I'm at quarter of a tank at 160 miles when usually I got around 250-280 miles a tank before the fix. I'm literally watching my gas being guzzled. Would it happen to be a MAP sensor and/or do I need a new air filter. Any type of advice will greatly be appreciated & thanks so much in advance!

1991 and up vehicle use a Mass Air Flow sensor, not a MAP Sensor. I'd recommend trying a new set of O2 Sensors if you've already tuned the vehicle up. A dirty air filter will cause this too, which is part of a tune-up.
