Gas Cap Light, Now Check Engine Light
My grandmother is 78 and is letting this bother her tremendously, so any help will be greatly appreciated.
She has 03 Taurus. First gas cap light, replaced gas cap, light didn't go off. Unhooked negative on battery and it came on about three weeks later. About two weeks after that, the check engine light.
The local Ford dealer told her what I did, that it's just a sensor to do with emissions. Where would I look first to see if there was a burnt wire or something?
Also, if she agrees (because she's on Social Security and has very limited income), how would I just flat out unplug it?
She's had so many things happen at once like door panels coming loose, windshield wiper fluid hose dry rotting, needing freon and petty stuff that I've fixed for her. But it would make her day to either fix this, if I could cheaply, or else just unplug it.
Thanks a lot for any suggestions in advance.
