2000 Ford taurus

Ok ive read a few with kinda the same problem as me but not exact. My problem is,when filling up at the pumps i have to barely squeeze the handle of the pump so it wont shut off. My tank acts as it full but it is not. The other is my gas hand stays on full,even when barely got gas in it.

Ive owned my car for a year only maybe 10 times the gas hand has showned signs of it working,and everytime i run outta gas the gas hand goes on empty. Them are the only times that it does not read full

If you ground the yellow/white wire at the gas tank, it should go all the way to empty. If you disconnect it, it will go all the way to full. The black/yellow wire is the ground. If you have a good ground on the black/yellow and when you ground the yellow/white wire, the sending unit in the tank is causing the gauge problem. As for the filling, there must be a blockage orkink in the filler hose to the tank, or the vent line to it is blocked.

Is this a flex fuel Taurus? I had a 01, same fuel gauge issue but mine set the check engine light. It was the flex fuel module under the dash.

If the 8th digit in your vin# is a 2, you have a flex.
