Help with oddity - PLeaSE
Hey guys. New forum member here. Hello to all. Here goes!!!
I have a 2000 Ford Taurus SE V6 3.0 L. A few weeks ago it started doing this weird thing where it would stall out while I was driving and immediately start back up (about 2-4 seconds) Then after about three days it would not start for about an hour and then start right up. The check engine light came on so naturally I had the codes checked. It read that I needed to replace the coolant tep. reg. sensor. So I did. Then it ran fine for two weeks. However, last night I tried to start the car and nothing. No sound, nothing. However, the lights where bright so I assume it was not the battery. The alternator is also brand new. So naturally my suspicions are ont he starter. Also, when I had the sensor replaced I had the mechanic look at my ignition switch. He said it looked fine. He test drove the car and it performed well. Anyway, back to yesterday after the initial period of the car not starting, I then went back out and the car started right up. Drove to the local gas station and home and it was fine. However, today I went to start the car and it started fine but then as I was backing out the car died and I had to push it back into the parking space. My lack of knowledge leads me to think it is the starter. I just wanted some insight before I spend the money on the starter as cash is tight right from now from being laid off. The irony is I need the car for the job search so it is a vicious cycle. But any help would be fantastic and thanks in advance.
