HID Lights?

Anyone have HID lights in a 96-99 taurus? I was thinking about getting some for my SHO but not sure if there any good.

Re: HID Lights?

They don't do much. The lens configuration of those cars is crap. They are a flood beam.
The older cars were a spot beam. Very bright in the middle but not much left or right.
The Taurus is just the opposite.

The headlights in the 01 Taurus are crap too. Very limited distance even on bright.

Exclamation Re: HID Lights?

The reflector design on non-HID lights isn't designed for proper light distribution. Set plenty of time aside and read this site. Talks about why HID conversions are bad, and how Silverstars are crap.

Re: HID Lights?

I kinda read the article but I'm still debating whether I should still upgrade to HID. my problem is the lighting quality I get off my stock housing and stock bulbs, which in my opinion are crap. I tried upgrading to Sylvania's Silverstar bulbs and did not notice any improvement. I've been searching the web hoping to find a better projector, while keeping as much as possible to the stock look but I haven't had any luck so far. if anyone has any ideas please share.

so I'm thinking that by installing a HID kit, even though my housings are not made for it, and may not project the light as efficiently it will definitely be a lot brighter than what I have now. My only concern is melting the headlight housing.

Any thoughts?
