Hi, i need help flushing my coolant system in my 96' ford taurus.

I was wondering how i drain my radiator? i cant find anything underneath the car that would drain it. thanks for the help

I usually yank the lower rad hose to flush them. It's a fast and furious drain!

is that the 2 visable hoses that hook to the radiator?

theres 1 on each side right?

i was going to do that but i wasnt sure if that was coolant.thanks mulletman

There is one on the right side just above the splash pan that is about a 1" diameter hose. That will do it, just don't get wet.

the hoses i was talking about are smaller than 1" too... maybe the ones im talking about are somthing else...

If you look directly under the front bumper, you will see a large, black plastic piece that is the splash pan. On the right (passenger) side, you will see the hose there to drain out the coolant.

Basically you should have two big, black hoses going to your radiator. One is on the top and the other is usually on the opposite corner (if one is on drivers side of car, top of radiator, the other should be on the passenger side of the car at the bottom of the radiator). Each will be held on w/ a spring clamp that you will have to squeeze with pliers to get off or possibly undo with a screwdriver. You want to remove the hose at the bottom of the radiator and the coolant will just flow out so have a bucket ready. Also, if you're uncomfortable doing that, there's usually a small drain plug somewhere that you can unscrew and drain it that way. It won't drain as quickly but it'll get you the same end result.

Haynes manual says that the radiator drain fitting is located at the lower left corner of the radiator (driver's side). Picture shows a round cylinder with 2 tabs on it (like a wing nut) for turning open and closed. cylinder faced down.

On the passenger side tucked up under the splash shield there is a 1" hose that comes from the bottom of the expansion tank. This tees into the lower radiator hose. Easy and quick place to drain the coolant.
