I have a 1996 Sable LS w/a power antenna. The upper portion of the antenna is broken off and the antenna does not go up and down any more although I hear the motor run. I bought a new mast or antenna for it.

How do I get the old one out?

Assuming its mounted on the front wing ?

It is mounted on the back drivers side, basically behind the rear window.

You can get an aftermarket universal power antenna from the local parts store. It is a complete unit that replaces the $280.00 Ford unit.

Remoce the L.R. inner panel to access it.

A whole new motor is too expensive for my taste. I just need to get my current antenna out for now.

If you got a new mast, then remove the nut around the bottom of the mast and try to pull it out. The new mast has a plastic track that will catch if you put it in and cycle the key.

I removed a nut type thing that has 4 grooves in it. I turned on the radio and tried to pull out the mast but it won't come out. Seems like there must be another piece that I need to remove yet.
Not sure what to do next.
